The Myth and Beauty of the Orchid
The origin of the orchid traces back to a fascinating legend from Greek mythology.
Orchis, the son of a nymph and a satyr, committed an unforgivable act during the celebrations in honor of the god Bacchus: in a drunken state, he tried to seduce a priestess.
This offense enraged the gods, who punished him with death.
His parents, heartbroken by grief, begged the gods to bring him back to life.
They agreed… but under one condition: Orchis would be reborn as a flower, destined to offer beauty and pleasure to humankind.
And so, the orchid was born ✨.
From a scientific perspective, orchids have existed for over 60 million years.
They thrive across the globe — except in polar and desert regions — with the Andean areas of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela being home to the richest variety.
